Choose where an ad shows

Automatic placements, or only Feeds, Stories and Reels

Meta picks where an ad shows unless you choose (automatic placements). Left to itself it often spends a large share on ads inside other apps (Audience Network), Messenger and ads in the middle of other people's videos, where many taps are accidental and few people stay on your page.

When you create an ad

In the Create Ad wizard, the Audience step has Where it shows: Automatic, or Feeds, Stories and Reels on Facebook and Instagram. The second keeps the ad to the places people watch and tap on purpose. A Page likes ad runs on Facebook, so it stays automatic there.

On an ad that is already staged or running

Open its page under Ads > Promoted Posts, pick Where it shows and press Save. PromoPilot changes only the ad set's placements on Meta; the audience, budget and dates stay as they are. Meta spends nothing on the placements left out. Check placements then shows the new list.

MCP server and API

Placements take a preset (feeds_stories_reels, or automatic) or single placement names such as facebook_feed, facebook_reels, instagram_stories or audience_network. create_wizard_ad and create_boost take placements; wizard_ad_action and boost_action take action="set_placements"; update_adset takes the same names. The REST API takes placements on POST /api/v1/ads/boosts/ and on POST /api/v1/ads/boosts/<id>/action/ with set_placements.
