Sending conversion events back to Meta (CAPI)

Optimise ad delivery with server-side events

The Meta Conversions API sender echoes pipeline stage changes back to Meta as server-side conversion events. Pair with the browser Pixel for the fullest possible signal about who is actually converting.

Setup

  1. Open Ads > CAPI from the sidebar.
  2. Pick the pipeline you want to configure.
  3. Pick the connected Meta ad account and paste the Pixel / Dataset ID from Meta Events Manager.
  4. For each stage, pick a CAPI event (Lead, Purchase, SubmitApplication, CompleteRegistration, Schedule) or leave as "Do not send".
  5. Tick Send events to Meta... and save.

PII safety: Contact email, phone, and name fields are SHA256 hashed before leaving PromoPilot, per Meta policy. Raw PII is never transmitted.

Test mode

While verifying, set a Test Event Code that matches the one you see in Meta Events Manager > Test Events. Events will route there instead of production.

Retries

Transient Meta failures (5xx, 429, network timeouts) retry automatically up to five times with exponential backoff. Permanent failures stop immediately and mark the event failed on the audit log.
